It's very important for me to be organized because I have so many jobs going on at once. Plus, being organized really cuts back on time from searching + digging through piles of supplies.
My new order of paints just came in from DecoArt! I'm so happy to be stocked up on the new line of Media Fluid Acrylics.
Today was a great day to organize + use my recent thrift store treasure. It's a very hard plastic container that looks like it could've been a cabinet, but the doors are missing. I LOVE the way it curves...it's perfect! Organized today, messy tomorrow!
As you can tell from this photo, I like to color coordinate my paints - warm to cool, please :)
I'm crazy for carousels/turn tables + anything with wheels...hey, I like to re-arrange on a whim without the heavy lifting + it's easy to transport when I give demos or painting outside at various locations.
Also, I like adding a lil' dab of the paint to the lid so that I can easily grab whatever color I want, at a glance. You'd be surprised at how well this complements the intuitive painting process.
Do you have any "homemade" solutions for your storage needs? If so, what's your favorite one for storing paints?
For my paints...I use shoe box size plastic containers with a lid and handles. I stack and label them. I organize them by brand. Then I store them on shelves. My brushes are stored in metal/pewter beer steins that I find in thrift stores for $2.00 or less. I have then sitting on my table. These are just a few ideas!
ReplyDeleteThese are some great ideas, Sue! I'll have to look for the plastic containers with a lid and handles...shouldn't be too hard to find. Most times, I organize by brand, too. Do you prefer organizing them that way because of their quality?
DeleteI found the containers at Walmart.
DeleteI organize by brand for quality, and also depending on the project that I am working on. I am an experimental mixed media artist and instructor...so I use so many mediums, and colors! It keeps me organized.
