NEW VIDEO: Creating a Layered Monoprint with RubberMoon Stencils

Hello creative lovelies!

Today, I’m giving you behind-the-scenes access to watch exactly how I create my super fun backgrounds.

Armed with only a handful of supplies, you get to watch my every move as I build up layers of color and texture, create a sense of depth + sprinkle everything with some hand lettering.

By the end of this video, you’ll feel more confident to approach the blank page or canvas, equipped with a bunch of easy to apply techniques to your own masterpieces.

RubberMoon Stencils:

Supplies + Tools used:
  • Paper to print on (white cardstock)
  • Acrylic paints (Titanium White, Sap Green, Cerulean Blue)
  • Gelatin plate + Rubber brayer
  • Sponge
  • Craft mat or paint palette

::Project steps::

STEP 1// Create a monoprint using a stencil and a gelatin printing plate.

STEP 2// Apply second color; Pull second print

STEP 3// Stencil directly onto pulled print
Using acrylics and a cosmetic sponge, hold the stencil in place with one hand as you pounce the acrylic paint onto the stencil. (A sponge allows you to have more control and to help you vary your pressure.)

Remember to pounce off excess paint to prevent seepage under your stencil.

STEP 4//
Journal with paint pens + embellish!
Add dots, lines and repeat shapes from stencil design.

There is no wrong way of doing this - just have fun, make bold color moves and enjoy the process of experimenting!

I hope you enjoyed my video on creating textured backgrounds enhanced with RubberMoon stencils.

No Compromise, illustration and the Courage to Start Art

Hello friends!
I hope you are off to a great start for 2015.
I have been super busy, filming my very first online art class! Yiipppeee! I had a tremendous amount of fun during the entire process...well, maybe not those late nights editing the footage, but hey, I try to look for the positive aspects in anything!

We start the 'My COLOR is Beautiful Art' workshop in 10 days!! (it's not too late to REGISTER...)

'The Courage To Start Art'

This fashion lady is my 1st face of 2015.
She encourages you to keep pushing your creative edge, make bold decisions to claim happiness in your life and to embrace your "uneek" journey.

We’ve all been there! You have a huge desire to create and share your passions, but our greatest hindrance can sometimes be ourselves- not taking action to grab hold of what we want. In my recent article, I share 3 tips on how to empower and heal yourself with positivity & self-love.

One of the phases of my lesson is about mark-making and doodling your personal symbols. This illustration demonstrates a few techniques I share in my lesson, 'Cultivate Your Symbology'.
